CMC-UF completed its operations in July 2024. 

We are thankful to DOE for their support and for the work of all of our PI's and alumni through the 6 years of research.

To provide the fundamental knowledge needed to achieve mechanistic control over the various nonequilibrium physical and geochemical processes that occur in extreme geological environments such as shale, mudstones, and other tight rocks with nanoscale pores.

The CMC-UF is an Energy Frontier Research Center funded by the DOE. Stanford is the lead institution in this collaborative effort with University of Southern California, University of Wyoming, University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin, and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

The Center is led by and populated with accomplished scientists possessing varied research expertise. The leadership has extensive experience in designing, organizing, and executing multi and single-investigator research efforts for DOE, NSF, and industry as well as experience in managing laboratory and numerical science.
